Opportunities for Parishes and Faith Communities

People say, what is the sense of our small effort? They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time. A pebble cast into a pond causes ripples that spread in all directions. Each one of our thoughts, words and deeds is like that. No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. There is too much work to do.

Dorothy Day

Throughout Catholic Charities’ 150 year history, faith communities have played a pivotal role in supporting and developing the work we do for those in need. There are many ways your community can engage with the work of Catholic Charities, and we hope you or your community can find the way to get involved that works for you.

LEARN

Interested in learning more about Catholic Charities’ programs, Catholic Social Teaching, or issues of racial and social justice that impact our community? Catholic Charities is offering virtual presentations, workshops, and facilitated experiences to engage, educate and motivate individuals, families, and communities to dive more deeply into the issues our clients face, and why we are called to be a part of the solution.

Organize a workshop or bring in a speaker to learn about topics such as homelessness or racial justice.

Host a book club around housing or racial justice and invite one of our trained facilitators to help lead a discussion or strategize around how the group can put what they’ve learned into action.

Invite your community to Catholic Charities-hosted events.

VOLUNTEER

We continue to accept volunteers and continue to provide safe avenues for you to serve people most in need in our community. We welcome people of all faiths and will work with you to find an opportunity that matches your skills, interests, and comfort level. We offer on-site and off-site opportunities for individuals and groups.

Find a time for your family, faith formation group, book club, etc. to volunteer at a Catholic Charities site.

Organize a group of dedicated community members to establish a routine or regular time and date to volunteer at a frequency that works for you.

ADVOCATE

Each year, thousands of community members engage to advocate for social justice, serving as a tireless voice for those who often go unheard. They work to advocate for and create awareness of important policy issues such as youth homelessness, affordable housing, mental health and childcare. Faith communities have often been at the forefront of this work. By working together, both at the Capitol and in community, we can help remove the barriers to equity that so many of our neighbors’ experience.

Join our advocacy community to receive updates and invitations on how to help.

Organize a group to attend an annual advocacy day on the hill such as the Homeless Day on the Hill or the JRLC Day on the Hill.

Contact our team to host an advocacy workshop in your community.

DONATE

Whether it be your individual gift or a donation from your faith community, you can help people who are hungry, experiencing homelessness and living in poverty or crisis. With programs for children, adults and families, Catholic Charities annually helps nearly 23,000 people, regardless of faith, background or circumstance and advocates on their behalf. With your help, we’ll work towards a better community by helping those of us most in need.

In-Kind Donations: Organizing a sock drive, hosting a satellite Giving Tree around the holidays, or simply dropping off a box of canned goods are all wonderful ways you can help us serve our clients. Check out our in-kind warehouse needs for the most up-to-date needs.

Financial Gifts: Fundraisers, planned giving, or a weekend collection are all ways you can help support our work. If there is an opportunity for a coordinated giving weekend in your community, a Catholic Charities staff member would love to come speak about our work and the ways in which your gifts can make a difference.

In-Kind Donations can be dropped off or sent to:
Catholic Charities Distribution Center
341 Chester St.
Saint Paul MN 55107
Financial Gifts can be sent to:
