Mile in My Shoes: “It’s a challenge, but that’s what I’m here for”

Through Mile in My Shoes (MIMS), people who have experienced homelessness run side by side with others in our community to build friendships and create change.  Five years ago, Mile in My Shoes launched its first running team in partnership with Catholic Charities Higher Ground Minneapolis —and last year, a team from Higher Ground Saint Paul joined.  And we’ve been running together and creating friendships ever since!

MIMS was featured in an MPR story highlighting Wes from Higher Ground Minneapolis and Amy from Higher Ground Saint Paul, who participated in the Mile in My Shoes Downtown Runaround 5K Run Sunday, June 2.  Mayor Jacob Frey (who finished in 2nd place, though he didn’t take the award) and Catholic Charities President & CEO Tim Marx were among the many runners who participated.

We look forward to continuing our MIMS partnership…and to the many miles that lie ahead!
