School-based Counseling

Safety net for students and families

Individual and group counseling for students, parent consultation, teacher consultation for student success, stressing educational model for mental health. School-based counseling has partnerships with eight urban schools to provide children with mental health and academic supports that are integrated into their every day school experience. These partnerships provide a "safety net" for students and families. Referrals to community resources also provided.

These children face complex and often dangerous circumstances, grief and loss, family with mental illness or chemical dependency, family violence and gang pressures. With our help, they are not alone.

Licensed clinical social workers trained to provide mental health and social services serve children at these sites as a natural part of their school experience. Students can access counseling by themselves or be referred by a teacher, parent or friend.
