2017 Advocacy Highlights

Office for Social Justice

Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis serves those most in need while calling for justice in the community. Social justice advocacy is a core component of Catholic Charities Mission, working to create systems change and engage the public on issues that are of critical importance to those we serve each day.

The Office for Social Justice Advocacy, along with our many grassroots advocates across the region, works to create this change in many ways and at many different levels.

This year with the support of thousands of our grassroots and grasstop advocates, a bonding bill was passed that included two critical state investments for Dorothy Day Place. As the largest public private partnership of its kind in social services and Minnesota housing history, this is an incredible policy win for all of those who raised their voices in support.

Another key focus area for our advocacy team in 2017 was support for children and families in our community, which resulted in additional dollars and changed policies that will help families in our community work towards stability and brighter futures.
