Catholic Charities 2018 Life of Distinction Award

We are proud to recognize Pat and Sandy Baldwin with our Life of Distinction Award!

The Life of Distinction Award is presented to a person or family who lives the mission of Catholic Charities through volunteerism, service and advocacy.

Pat and Sandy Baldwin raised an incredible family of eight children, and now many grandchildren. Many of you may think that sounds like a big family – and it is – but those are just the children who lived under their roof. Thousands of children who have walked through the doors of St. Joseph’s Home for Children in South Minneapolis over the past 20 years are also a part of the extended Baldwin family. Young people whose lives have been changed forever thanks to Pat and Sandy’s generosity and commitment. Each year, nearly 1,000 children seek shelter and support from Catholic Charities when they are removed from unsafe situations in their homes and families. These children experience trauma many of us can’t imagine. They – like all of us – need to know they are loved and they belong. The Baldwins know this in their bones, and it has driven their support of Catholic Charities in so many ways.

Catholic Charities 2018 Community Service Award

The Catholic Charities Community Service Award is presented tonight to the Saint Paul and Minnesota Foundations for your incredible partnership and support advancing the mission of Catholic Charities.

A recent news headline read “the crisis is now visible” – referring to the disturbing increase in homelessness – in the face of the oncoming bitter cold of Minnesota winter. It could be easy for a community to become paralyzed in the face of such a daunting challenge. It takes committed, courageous leadership, collaboration and resources to advance real solutions – and that is exactly what the Saint Paul and Minnesota foundations are doing.
