Catholic Charities’ newest program, the St. Paul Residence, is the result of collaboration with both the City of St. Paul and the State of Minnesota to help end chronic homelessness.
From left to right, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, Catholic Charities Board Chair Bob Spinner, Catholic Charities CEO Fr. John Estrem and Minnesota Housing Commissioner Tim Marx celebrated the grand opening of the affordable housing facility on October 31.
Construction of the new facility was made possible through a partnership with the St. Paul Housing and Redevelopment Authority and $10 million of general obligation bonds approved by the legislature as part of its initiative to end long-term homelessness.
St. Paul Residence will provide single-room housing for 60 chronically homeless men. In addition, the new construction will also include relocation of Catholic Charities’ St. Anthony Residence program, which provides permanent housing for 60 chronic alcoholics. Residents will receive independent living skills training, medication monitoring and employment services.
