Getting By and Getting Out: Dorothy Day Center Highlighted on MPR
When someone becomes homeless, what does it take to "get by"? And once they've figured out how to survive life on the streets, what does it take to "get out" of homelessness? Listen to Minnesota Public Radio as it explores these questions with members of the homeless community in its next "In the Loop" broadcast.
MPR recently taped In the Loop at Catholic Charities' Dorothy Day Center, giving guests a forum to share their personal experiences of homeless. Through interviews, poetry and music, guests shed light on what it is like to be homeless in the Twin Cities.
Also joining the show to talk about what Minnesota and Catholic Charities are doing to help end long-term homelessness were Fr. John Estrem, CEO of Catholic Charities, and Laura Kadwell, director of the state's plan to end long-term homelessness.
