Legislative Commission to End Poverty by 2020
The Legislative Commission to End Poverty by 2020 has wasted no time in gaining a more comprehensive understanding of the face of poverty in Minnesota. Legislators have traveled the state to hear directly from low-income Minnesotans in the urban core, suburbs and all across greater Minnesota.
In the second phase of their work, the Commission will explore possible solutions to the challenges that have been identified. This will include best practices from within Minnesota and innovative ideas from other states. We advocate for bold thinking like what has characterized our state in years past.
By the end of the year, the Commission to End Poverty is charged with proposing a package of legislative initiatives and an action plan to move toward a poverty-free Minnesota by the year 2020. The ultimate success of the Commission will be dependent largely on creating a base of support in the community and the political will at the legislature. Status
