Day Treatment Helps Children Develop Year-roundChildren learn year-round at St. Joe's

Education services end in June for Minneapolis students, but the Day Treatment program at St. Joseph’s Home for Children doesn’t take a summer break.

St. Joe’s Day Treatment program annually serves about 50 children whose emotional or behavioral issues make it difficult for them to function in a mainstream setting. Children have disorders such as ADHD, mood disorders, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, anxiety disorders or oppositional and defiant behavior.

It’s very important that children continue their mental health treatment throughout the year, and in the summer the need for treatment does not end.

Although the children do not receive academic services through Minneapolis Public Schools during the summer, they receive the same therapy and skills training – such as learning to cope with mental health issues or improving relationships with adults.
